Long, Big Feet Problems

The other day I wanted to get myself a footwear of some sort. Slippers to be precise. Well, I went out and returned home with no slippers. You already know why from the topic. Virtually all the nice ones were in small sizes. Like, I saw a really cute slippers, was technically drooling but it had to be a size 38. I loved the look of it so much I considered  buying it just for keeps or to give a friend but my purse said No. All the ones in size 41 were just bland looking. I had to ignore the incessant 'Buy it, it's fine' lines the sellers were giving me. Biko, it's not you people that'd wear it.
For me, the hustle started way back in secondary school. The only difference is that I always saw big sizes even though I never liked them. There's this particular market my mum and I used to frequent and almost all the shoe sellers already stigmatised me as a very choosy child. At the end of the day, I always had to go with one of the shoes because half bread is better than nothing. Somewhere along the line, I fall in love with the shoes - not like I had any choice. Thank God it's gotten better.
Here are the struggles I think everyone in my shoes has faced. Did you see that wordplay?
- Trying to use vaseline to wear a shoe that relative overseas sent to you. Doesn't even work for me. The most recent one, I loved the shoe so much but it didn't love me back. I even tried to get someone with a wayy longer and bigger feet to help me expand it. Lol. At the end of the day, I had to get emotionally unattached from it and sell it.
- For those with big feet, when your friends don't want you near their footwears because they don't want it expanded. Sigh.

- Or when they try yours on and exclaim at how big they are.
- Some days, you just want to be a cool kid but No! all the cute sneakers are in small size.
- And when you finally find one that fits perfectly, you basically wear it almost every time.
- When you can't conveniently stretch your legs in a bus or some other cramped place. The other day I was in the library and I had to keep apologising to the guy opposite me cause I kept hitting him while trying to stretch my long legs.
- You've probably paid the price of trying to squeeze your legs into smaller shoes. Gosh, the pain!
- When you go shoe shopping, get stressed and get really annoyed at all shoe manufacturers for saving the wacky designs for the big sizes.

- When you buy open-toes and your toes really do a lot of popping out.
- When you find shoes that are bigger than you and you're elated.
- When you walk with friends with shorter feet and they start asking you where you're running to. I'm always getting this.

- When you hear  Kendall Jenner and Khloe Kardashian wear a size 10 and you feel like you've joined some special kinda league.

Seriously, the struggle is real! I wear size 10 and even though I have more of a long feet than a big one, shopping for shoes could be heartbreaking at times.
Are you also in my shoes?
What other struggles have you faced?
I think it's high time we formed an association and sued these shoe manufacturers. What do you think?
Please leave me your thoughts. xxx

  5. I wear a size 10 but I've been lucky enough to get shoes without so much struggle. The only bad part is the fact that you never find the big sizes during sale. And with this economy situation, I rather shop the sale.
It was so much fun reading this by the way!

  6. Lol @ "the struggles I think everyone in my shoes has faced". Brilliant word play, I love clever puns. :-)

Ah, the big feet palava, my feet are wide, so finding comfortable shoes is my own struggle, I'll never choose fashion "shakara" over my comfort. Blisters are no fun at all.

  13. LOL! although I cannot relate, I sympathize with you, I have a lot of friends with big feet and I always feel their pain. Meanwhile, if you wear a size 41, check @thethriftstoreng on Instagram, you just might find something there. P.S that baby picture you inserted up there is so hilarious.

This thing called Fashion

I've read more than enough articles, posts, whatever and I'm still yet to come up with the word. The one defining my personal style. Simple & Conservative keeps popping up but sounds too clichรฉ so nayyy. I'm naturally not fashion oriented . Yes , I said it. It's not a problem, never has been ; to me anyway. When I hear about how some babes spend virtually all they have just so they update their wardrobe and how they can't control it ehn, I get really thankful for how simple that part of my life is but sometimes I just want to go out of my comfort zone and take risks. Fashion risks. Imagine writing on Fashion risks worth taking and you're just there in shell, scared of venturing out. Because I was trying to adjust my hair and the sweetheart snapping me said pauseee. I can't just keep up with the constant need to make up outfit ideas. Some days, I see people, pictures and I'm just like hey, I should try that, just go for this colour instead ...

Quick Life Update : The Abusive Relationship I Am In

I trusted him completely but he broke my heart and still is in the business of breaking it. His promise to always be with me Everywhere I Go was alas a lie. He said that only to catch my attention and make me his. He gave me mouth-watering packages that offered me less for more but it turned out to be a faรงade. I'm tired and frustrated. I can't carry out my normal routine with all he's been doing. I trusted him just this once and he disappointed me. I never should have promoted him from the zone I placed him in initially. I remember all the times I heard people complain about theirs and I was always relieved I wasn't in their shoes but guess where I am now? I guess that's what life does. Sit in a corner and laugh at you. Nice job. He looks so attractive on the outside but deep down, there's nothing exciting about  him. A big fat faรงade. I miss the things I could have been doing if I hadn't made the mistake of trusting him too much. His favourite colour is ...

For Times When You Go From 100-0 And You Can't Explain It.

This post title is quite a mouthful simply because I couldn't find something else to describe how I felt the day I wrote this. I've been in this situation more times than I can remember. It's always exhausting and annoying. I'll be gay, exuberant and then SNAP! I'm feeling down, irritated at nothing in particular and the rest of the day becomes gloomy. No, it ain't mood swing . Or is it? The most annoying thing about this predicament is when people start asking what's wrong and I can't come up with something genuine. The occurrence that prompted this post was the most 'interesting' one ever. Here's the detail. I was having an almost perfect day doing few things online that required me to write a little something about myself. I included "I'm a PhlegMel(Yes, I believe in temperaments)" after 're-looking' up the words in the dictionary to make sure they suited me. As I was to discover later that day, that was a wro...
