Wedding Day Thrills : 6 Things I Look Forward to & 3 That I Don't!

Hey guys, I've not posted in a while. Isn't it nice how that screams consistency? Lol jokes. I promise to do better.
I was watching TV the other day and came across this 'It's my wedding' program that showcases all the activities couples go through in prep for their wedding day. I remember being insanely attracted to all the Ovation magazines with wedding pictures when I was way younger.  I was constantly devouring the pictures and you'd think I'd grow up to become a bridal consultant or something close. Life oh Life.
My mantra has always been 'I'm looking forward to my wedding day and not exactly to marriage' but who am I deceiving? Lol.
I think every girl has their wedding fantasy kept somewhere close for easy editing and all so I thought to share some of the reasons I'm looking forward to getting wedded.

•  Pre-wedding shoot : Some years back, this wouldn't have been on the list but with all these beautiful and also hilarious pictures that have been surfacing online, I'm patiently looking forward to mine. You see why I said our wedding fantasies are kept close for easy editing?

•  Bridal Shower : I know this isn't on most people's list and it's written in pencil on mine too but I think bridal showers are fun so I wouldn't mind having one.

•  Throwing of Bouquet : I've not been to a wedding ceremony in ages but do they still do it? I hope so because I want to throw my bouquet and see the struggle to catch it. Hahaha

•  Dress, Makeup : I'm not big on makeup but did you guys see the picture of that Nigerian bride who went all natural on her wedding day? I think she's the MVP. I'm not being vain but I intend to look a billion dollar and more on my wedding day. Peng, On fleek and everything. I'm still trying to create my wedding dress in my head. I think wearing a colour other than white is cool but you know Nigerians and the way we raise eyebrows and jump into conclusions so white it is for me.

•  The dance floor : Ah, I intend to scatter the dance floor. Is it possible to get shy when it's time to dance on your wedding day? If it is then I come against such spirits and forces. I'm not particularly a good dancer but I plan to dig it that day.

•  Writing toasts : All those cute toasts the couple write to each other? I'm eager to see what I would come up with. Hopefully something cute, creative and original. Do people really ask others to write theirs for them?

Are we together on all this? What are you looking forward to? What did you look forward to?

Just for laughs, I'm definitely not looking forward to the following
•  The anxiety : I've heard stories of how brides are unable to sleep on their wedding eve. All the fuss and worry about if the wedding dress still fits and if the caterer wouldn't sly and all. I think this is pretty normal but I'm not looking forward to it.
•  Sudden trust issues : You know the 'That time I offended bae, what if he hasn't really forgiven me and plans to pay back by not showing up', 'Does he really love me?', 'What if nobody shows up?' 'What if the rings get misplaced?'. The endless what ifs. Sigh
•  The part where the minister uses the 'If you're against this union' line. I heard some churches don't do this anymore and while I think it's necessary, I don't like the goosebumps that'd come with it.
That sums it up for me guys! (I know wedding is for a day and marriage is forever)
What and what are you looking forward to?
What and what aren't you looking forward to? Share with me please.
If you've said the big yes, what did you look forward to and what didn't you look forward to? Let's discuss!

  1. Yessss I love everything about weddings. You should watch the Lokkos Wedding on Youtube, so beautiful. Haha , I told my mum that recently. That I can't wait for my wedding but I'm in no hurry to get married. Yes, that's one thing I'm really afraid of. Getting cold feet or second thoughts *shivers*. Great post Laitan! xx

      I think there's
      this stage of
      our lives where
      wedding is all
      we care about.
      I'm there right now
      and I'm enjoying
      it.

  2. The reverse was the case for me. i looked forward to the marriage and not so much he wedding. Couldn't be bothered honestly. Got my dress like a month before. Plus I'm not a fan of dancing, so I didn't look forward to that so much. Lol. Wedding fever must be in the air - I have like three wedding posts planned!

  4. I love this. Hilarious pre-wedding shoots indeed. I'm not sure about pre-wedding shoots and all I think about is marriage not the wedding. I could try the all-natural look for the wedding if my skin issues are totally gone, that's my only problem. But I do love make-up so maybe makeup for the engagement. But wait o, are wedding bells in the air? This one you're talking about it.

      Not at all. The tv

      sure all that

I can't even remember what I looked forward to prior to my wedding. Lol
It's a beautiful day. Just don't prepare for for it more than you prepare for the real deal- the marriage.
Lol at you intend to scatter the dance floor. I was kind of shy on mine. My bridesmaid kept saying, "dance! dance!"

I love to dance so I can't wait to scatter that dance floor, then I would also love to sing for my husband that day.lol talking about the anxiety and all the other stuff, I really think it's inevitable, I also realised that most brides lose their voices before the big day, I can do see myself doing that. This was an amazing post๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  22. When I was little, I went for a wedding with an older relative. the officiating Minister started the "If you are against the marriage..." sermon, and I thought it was cute to stand up just for fun. I'm glad I didn't because the stare I received from the big aunt next to me was that of "I know what you're thinking and if you try it..." hahaha...

I look forward to that day too.

This thing called Fashion

I've read more than enough articles, posts, whatever and I'm still yet to come up with the word. The one defining my personal style. Simple & Conservative keeps popping up but sounds too clichรฉ so nayyy. I'm naturally not fashion oriented . Yes , I said it. It's not a problem, never has been ; to me anyway. When I hear about how some babes spend virtually all they have just so they update their wardrobe and how they can't control it ehn, I get really thankful for how simple that part of my life is but sometimes I just want to go out of my comfort zone and take risks. Fashion risks. Imagine writing on Fashion risks worth taking and you're just there in shell, scared of venturing out. Because I was trying to adjust my hair and the sweetheart snapping me said pauseee. I can't just keep up with the constant need to make up outfit ideas. Some days, I see people, pictures and I'm just like hey, I should try that, just go for this colour instead ...

Quick Life Update : The Abusive Relationship I Am In

I trusted him completely but he broke my heart and still is in the business of breaking it. His promise to always be with me Everywhere I Go was alas a lie. He said that only to catch my attention and make me his. He gave me mouth-watering packages that offered me less for more but it turned out to be a faรงade. I'm tired and frustrated. I can't carry out my normal routine with all he's been doing. I trusted him just this once and he disappointed me. I never should have promoted him from the zone I placed him in initially. I remember all the times I heard people complain about theirs and I was always relieved I wasn't in their shoes but guess where I am now? I guess that's what life does. Sit in a corner and laugh at you. Nice job. He looks so attractive on the outside but deep down, there's nothing exciting about  him. A big fat faรงade. I miss the things I could have been doing if I hadn't made the mistake of trusting him too much. His favourite colour is ...

For Times When You Go From 100-0 And You Can't Explain It.

This post title is quite a mouthful simply because I couldn't find something else to describe how I felt the day I wrote this. I've been in this situation more times than I can remember. It's always exhausting and annoying. I'll be gay, exuberant and then SNAP! I'm feeling down, irritated at nothing in particular and the rest of the day becomes gloomy. No, it ain't mood swing . Or is it? The most annoying thing about this predicament is when people start asking what's wrong and I can't come up with something genuine. The occurrence that prompted this post was the most 'interesting' one ever. Here's the detail. I was having an almost perfect day doing few things online that required me to write a little something about myself. I included "I'm a PhlegMel(Yes, I believe in temperaments)" after 're-looking' up the words in the dictionary to make sure they suited me. As I was to discover later that day, that was a wro...
